In an epic MGA race, Sherm Decker #16 and Bob Bucher #29, circulated the last lap of the 25mile race virtually neck-and-neck. The cars are shown here exiting the “90”

as they begin the dash to the finish line. Bucher won by a half car-length. Both drivers were members of Spanky Smith’s famed “Jake’s Stable”.

The Collier Brother’s Memorial Race was created for MG’s after Sam Collier was tragically killed in the 1950 Watkins Glen Grand Prix behind the wheel of Briggs Cunningham’s Ferrari 166. It is still run annually.
